Known for its lively nightlife, organized market and beaches, Glyfada<\/a> is the de facto capital of the Athenian Riviera and one of the most popular areas of Attica. Following the Asia Minor Catastrophe in 1922, many Greek refugees from Turkey resettled in the Athens basin. Glyfada began to evolve, slowly urbanizing as Athens expanded southward.
